Interactive surveys

A survey that listens
to the answer.

Stop asking everyone the same questions. Build a survey that responds to what people actually tell you: every answer can change what comes next, questions that do not apply never appear and the follow-up lands inside the moment it belongs to. It plays as a conversation on a phone. It finishes in minutes. The answer log shows you the path each person took.

The survey builder ships on the Studio plan. The demo below needs no account.

How did you first hear about ChatAnimate?

02

The fixed list and
the listening list.

Fig. 1 · The traditional survey
Q1Q2Q3Q4Q5Q6

Twelve questions for every respondent. The ones that do not apply collect "not applicable" answers and teach you nothing. Long surveys train people to click without reading. The dropoff charts show exactly where attention ran out.

Fig. 2 · A ChatAnimate survey

Every respondent answers the questions that fit them and no others. Relevant questions, shorter surveys and less clutter is the documented promise of branching logic. The chat format makes the mechanics invisible: people just answer what they are asked.

Branching itself is old. Survey platforms have shipped skip logic for years. The difference here is the whole package: the question arrives in a conversation, the follow-up lands seconds after the answer and the result reads like a transcript of one person's thinking instead of a row in a spreadsheet.

03

Three steps from
a blank page to a survey.

  1. Step 1

    Describe it in one sentence

"A three-minute survey for people who cancelled their subscription, with a follow-up on each reason." The AI drafts the conversation, every question and the branches. You edit the wording, not the structure. You can also start from a blank chat and write it by hand.

  2. Step 2

    Wire the branches

Each answer points at the question it should open. Multiple choice, a typed answer or a tap on a spot in a screenshot can all carry the routing. Add scores where the answer should count and a pass mark if the survey grades.

  3. Step 3

    Send the link

Publish and share. Respondents open it on any phone, no account and no app. The answer log records each path, the roster shows completion and everything exports to CSV for the analysis you already do.

Surveys people
actually run here.

Customer satisfaction

Ask the score, then dig into the reason that particular customer gave.

9 and 10 get "what went well". 6 and below get "what went wrong".

Product feedback

Route each respondent through the feature they actually used.

Picked the payment screen at Q1? Q2 is about the payment screen.

Market research

Screen first, then run the long path only at people it fits.

Disqualify in two questions instead of 10 minutes of scroll.

Employee pulse

A two-minute check-in that follows up where the mood is low.

Low scores open the "what would change it" follow-up in place.

Event feedback

Ask about the sessions people attended, not the ones they skipped.

Their track decides which sessions get asked about.

Exit and churn

Find out why they left at the level that actually matters.

Price complaint and silence complaint open different paths.

Onboarding check-ins

Catch confusion while it is still cheap to fix.

Stuck at setup? The next question is about setup.

Concept testing

Show the concept, then ask what they understood.

Each reading of the concept gets its own follow-up.

Logic without a logic editor

There is no rule matrix to build. The follow-up simply sits on the answer it belongs to, the way a reply sits under the message it answers. Reordering the conversation reorders the survey.

Show, then ask

Put the screenshot, the notification or the message thread in front of the question and ask about what is on screen. Image answers with tappable spots turn "which part was confusing" from a checkbox into an exact pixel.

Scores where they matter

Weight answers and set a pass mark. Decide whether a low score retakes or simply reports. Screening surveys can route qualified respondents into the long path and everyone else out in three questions.

The path is the data

Because every respondent walks their own route, the answer log doubles as a segmentation tool. Which branch, which follow-up, how far: the funnel report writes itself from the same records.

05

Who runs one
and what they get.

The product manager

Wants signal on the new checkout without a 20-question blast to every user.

A survey the first 50 respondents finish in under three minutes, with paths instead of averages.

The researcher

Needs screener questions that respect the time respondents give and route honestly.

Qualified participants deep in the study, everyone else thanked in two questions.

The CX lead

Tired of NPS numbers that arrive with no reason attached.

Every score carries its follow-up conversation, logged answer by answer.

Ready when you are

Don't collect answers.
Follow them.

Write the first question, decide what each answer should open and send the link. The survey builder, the answer log and the CSV export ship together on the Studio plan.
